Water Softeners & Refiners

Water Softening Solutions

The Soft Water Difference

Hard water contains excess minerals or metals, like calcium and magnesium. While safe to use, it can reduce cleaning effectiveness, damage appliances, and lower efficiency over time.

At Quality Water Solutions, our residential and commercial water softener systems remove hard water minerals and sediment, helping extend equipment life, improve performance, and deliver cleaner, softer water for your home or business. Your family or your business will specifically notice these benefits with one of our residential and commercial water softening systems:

Appearance & Health

  • Softened water feels smoother and less irritating to your skin, while drying it less. It also results in shinier hair.
  • Reduced build-up of soap scum film on tubs, sinks, faucets and wall tiles, helps make cleaning and keeping a spotless bathroom easier.
  • Elimination of spotting on glassware, dishes and flatware caused by hard water.
  • Cleaner, brighter and softer laundry, requiring 50% less detergent.
  • Decreased amount of cleaning agents and excess water going down the drain and back into your community’s groundwater and/or water system.

Extended Appliance Lifespan

  • Reduced scale build-up in pipes, and up to 29% lowered energy consumption of your water heater due to reduced scale build-up.
  • Preserve the life of your water using appliances, such as washing machines, dishwashers and coffee makers, by operating them more efficiently without scale.
  • Softened water reduces the wear and tear on your home’s plumbing, preventing costly repairs and ensuring smooth flowing water.

Savings That Add Up

  • Water softeners reduce maintenance needs for plumbing and appliances, resulting in long-term cost savings.
  • Appliances like dishwashers and water heaters last longer and require fewer repairs, reducing replacement costs.
  • Softened water requires less soap, detergent, shampoo, and cleaning products, saving you money and reducing chemical usage.

City Water Refining Solutions

Most municipalities treat water by using chlorine or chloramine to kill bacteria. Some might even soften the water, but only to meet minimum requirements. That doesn’t mean it is ideal for your family. Refiners are designed specifically for city water with a patented stratified resin bed, layered with fine and standard resin, as well as carefully selected carbon for superior filtration without sacrificing flow rate capability. The product water is free of hardness and the taste and odor of chlorine or chloramines.

The ERRC/ERR 3700+ Series Water Softeners have Wi-Fi enabled technology which sends continuous and excessive water use, system error, low salt and service reminder alerts. This lineup of systems carry impressive warranties and are well worth the investment.

Well Water Softening Solutions

Well water often comes with its own set of challenges, like hardness, iron stains, or an unpleasant taste or odor. With an EcoWater System’s water softener, you can enjoy softer skin, brighter laundry, and stain-free fixtures and appliances, even on well water.

The ECR 3700+ Series Water Softeners are specifically designed for well water with a patented stratified resin bed, layered with fine and standard resin, as well as a quartz underbedding for superior filtration and iron removal without sacrificing flow rate capability. Equipped with Wi-Fi enabled technology that sends continuous and excessive water use, system error, low salt and service reminder alerts and backed by impressive warranties, this water softener is well worth the investment.

Commercial Water Softening Solutions

Hard water costs businesses millions each year in maintenance, energy loss, and equipment replacement. Its high mineral content causes scale buildup in pipes, valves, and equipment, restricting water flow and reducing efficiency. In water heaters and boilers, scale limits heat transfer, increasing energy use and leading to premature failure. Hard water also accelerates wear on seals, causing leaks and fixture staining. Installing a water softening system helps prevent damage, improve efficiency, and reduce operating costs.

The EWS Commercial Softener has Wi-Fi enabled technology which sends continuous and excessive water use, system error, low salt and service reminder alerts, including a water-to-drain sensing alert notifying you when an excessive amount of water is going to drain.

Why do some have two tanks?

EcoWater Systems offers home water softeners in a single tank cabinet style or a two-tank system. Which is right for your home? Consider the amount of space available for the system, plus the hardness of your water.

One Tank System

A single tank or cabinet-style system requires less space because the softener’s brine tank nests inside of the salt tank.

Two Tank System

A two-tank system has a separate salt tank, and provides more options for the hard water capacity of the unit.

Our Certified Water Specialist can give you expert advice on the benefits of a single versus two-tank system based on the results of your water test.

Understanding the Softening Process

Resin Tank: At the heart of a water softener is the resin tank, where the transformation from hard to soft water takes place. As water enters the system, it passes through a dense layer of resin beads, each charged with sodium ions. These beads attract and capture hard minerals like calcium and magnesium, effectively replacing them with sodium. The result? Softer water that’s ready for use throughout your home.

Resin Bed: The resin bed, made up of thousands of these specialized beads, plays a critical role in this process. As water flows through, it interacts with the resin surface, triggering the exchange that removes hardness and helps protect your plumbing, appliances, and skin from mineral buildup.

How it works

  1. Hard Water Enters the Water Softener
  2. Tiny Beads in the resin bed attract the hard water minerals, removing them from the water.
  3. Soft water enters your home

Did You Know

Water heaters using hard water may lose up to 48% efficiency over time, due to scale buildup (Water Quality Research Foundation, 2009).

Regeneration: How It Works Behind the Scenes

Brine Tank
This is where the salty mixture begins. Salt dissolves in water to form a brine solution, which is used to clean and recharge the resin beads during the regeneration process.

Brine Solution
A strong saltwater mixture produced in the brine tank. It restores the resin beads by pushing out the hardness minerals and replacing them with sodium ions.

Drain Line
After regeneration, the used brine solution—along with the extracted hardness minerals—is flushed out of the system through the drain.

How it works

  1. Brine is pumped through the resin tank
  2. The brine solution and hard minerals are flushed from the tank into a nearby drain before the softening process starts again.
